Spring is here… finally! And what does that mean? It’s music festival season! This is the time of year when everyone is packing away winter coats, opening up windows to let the breeze blow through, and pulling out their camping gear to get on the road to listen to some music. Okay, maybe that’s not everyone’s list of spring activities, but it is for a lot of people I know.
During the springtime, you can travel near or far to hear any genre of music and sometimes many genres of music in the melting pot of multiple stages, food vendors, and camp sites, all properties of the blissful, carefree music festival scene. Whether you enjoy hanging by the Mississippi River in Memphis, Tennessee to be a part of the Beale Street Music Festival, keeping it weird in Austin, Texas with some great jams and flicks at SXSW (South By Southwest), or getting your groove on at Jazz Fest in the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans, you can hear and see almost any artist you’d like at this time of year.
So get your sunscreen and blankets ready for something other than just the beach this year. Get out of the house and go get some of your favorite music, and discover new music, at one of the many cities hosting artists from all over the country and the world who are there to play you some tunes.
