Bean!!
So I gotta tell ya….when I was a kid, I always thought it would be great fun to dive into a pool of jell-o. Who didn’t want that, you know?!? But then, you grow up a little and you kind of scare yourself thinking about that. Because in reality, you’d NEVER be able to get to the surface after diving in! And death by Jell-O is not how we want to go.
Since “growing up” or “becoming wiser”, I’d now like to simply be in a pool of JELLY BEANS! And real Jelly Bellies. Not those cheap ones that you get at Easter from your Aunt Enid, but the expensive, cool colored-flavored ones. I mean think of it like a ball pit, right? But it’s yours, so no weird bacteria. Of course you still take off your shoes, and you stay in the shallow end.
So, now that you have your mental of playing in a pool of jelly beans, let me introduce one of my FAVORITE things about Chicago…drumroll please…THE BEAN!
Yes, of course “THE BEAN”!!! It has a real name…yes….but honestly? “CLOUDGATE”? Really? It’s THE BEAN! And it’s great. It was designed by Anish Kapoor, and this cat, is worth looking up. He has some AMAZING work around the world and “THE BEAN” is in Chicago’s front yard! The pictures don’t do it justice, you really must see it for yourself!
Perhaps, like me, you’ll think it may have run away from some giant’s dream pool of jelly beans. If that’s true, this is one rich giant! “CLOUDGATE” was intended to cost 9 MILLION dollars, but in the end soared to nearly 23 MILLION!
So, perhaps for the price tag alone it’s worth the visit. The next chance you get, head up to the “Windy City” and go introduce yourself to “Cloudgate”! It’s in “Millennium Park” and loves visitors. Wander inside….take pictures….check your teeth for spinach…and really, just fall in love with it!
