Good Food, Good Friends, Good Times at Meehan’s Irish Pub!

One of my favorite places to eat in St. Augustine by far is Meehan’s Irish Pub. Not only for its gorgeous location, with views overlooking the Matanzas Bay, Fort, and Bridge of Lions, but also for its whimsical atmosphere, great food and awesome staff.

With three separate themed areas within, there’s something for everyone at Meehan’s. Each area offers a unique experience that you can’t get anywhere else in town. First, there’s The Pub downstairs, the heart of the establishment and my personal favorite. It is an authentic Irish pub setting offering traditional Irish fare, along with signature dishes, and local favorites. It’s the perfect place to relax, grab a pint and feel at home. Then there’s The Backyard at Meehan’s. It’s an island café and tropical bar where you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather, along with some laidback reggae music. Lastly, and the newest addition to Meehan’s, is Johnny’s “Famous” Oyster Bar, located upstairs.

It has a true New Orleans feel, offering raw or specialty oysters shucked to order right in front of you. Here you can sit at the oyster bar and enjoy lively conversation, or hang out on the deck and overlook the bayfront.

The food here is absolutely incredible! The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and takes pride in the products they serve. Everything is made from scratch; there’s not a freezer in the building! I would definitely recommend any of their seafood dishes, which are all fresh and local.
