The Grand Ole Opry

It’s one of those places that every country fan wants to go see, and every country singer wants to perform at. You guessed it! It’s Nashville, Tennessee’s number one attraction, The Grand Ole Opry!

Just five years after commercial radio came about in the United States, the Grand Ole Opry was born. It began as a radio station to the local community in 1925 and quickly became popular, gathering crowds of 500 just to watch the performers. Some of history’s well-known country artists such as Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson and Minnie Pearl have performed at this beautiful complex.

In 1955 it became an ABC TV Network show and is now known as “The Show That Made Country Music Famous!” Since then, country artists such as Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood have also become members and make frequent visits to be a part of a show.

The Green Light crew was fortunate enough to go to Nashville this past October and take a tour of this great place, and boy did we have a blast! Not everybody can say they’ve had their own debut on the Grande Ole Opry stage! That’s right! We got up there, stood on the Ryman Circle and sang, You Are My Sunshine!! (Yes, that’s me and my guitar over there… I’d teach you how to play but I don’t want to give away my secrets!)

So whether you’re a country fan, or a country star; come check out this breathtaking stage and be apart of a country legend. This world famous stage is dedicated to Country music and putting on a great performance, and who knows…Maybe you can get up there and sing your own tune one day!
