Newsies on Broadway

NEWSIES is headed the Broadway stage this spring and it will be a sure winner for student groups. Newsies is based on the 1992 live-action Disney film and has all the same great songs like “Carrying the Banner”, “Seize the Day”, “King of New York” and “Santa Fe” by stage and film songwriting powerhouse Alan Menken. Disney said that this is the single most requested film of theirs that high school drama teachers ask to have adapted for the stage and finally they recruited Harvey Fierstein to write the necessary script changes to make it happen. The show had its world premier this Fall at Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ. Disney was blown away by great reviews from both critics and audiences and knew they had no choice but to move it to Broadway. So for a limited run March 15- June 10, 2012, Newsies will be playing at the Nederlander Theatre!
