Shopping…And Dining…And Trolleys…Oh My!!

When headed to Los Angeles for the first time, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I had never been to California before and the idea of exploring Hollywood’s fame, the Santa Monica pier, and Beverly Hill’s Rodeo Drive, was exciting all on it’s own. But what I came to find out is what a great time I would have in The Grove and the Farmer’s Market, Hollywood.

Where I come from, the Farmers Market is a made of a small, compact selection of shops and boutiques, consisting of used video games, furniture and appliances and a touch of fresh produce. It’s set up on a dirt and/or grass field, once a week, and is taken apart the very same day. That’s it, nothing much to see, end of story…. In Hollywood, there is an enormous selection of anything you can imagine; from a Barbershop club or a Dog bakery…to an array of 20 different ethnic foods that will blow your socks off! If you are a food lover like me, this is the place to grab a bite and explore during your stay in LA, any day of the week.

Attached to the Farmers Market is the ultimate entertainment destination, The Grove. You can either walk along the strip of shops, or take a ride on The Grove Trolley traveling directly along First Street between The Grove and The Farmers Market. Every hour, located in front of the heart of the grove, you can enjoy the Dancing Fountain, tuned to a variety of songs by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and plenty of other great artists. Or stop by on a Monday from 9am-3pm and catch Saved by the Bell’s Mario Lopez filming his entertainment news show Extra.

So walk through The Grove, filled with tons of name brand stores and restaurants, and complete with a movie theater; or walk through the Farmer’s Market and browse local shops and restaurants that you wont experience anywhere else. Either way, you can count on finding exactly what you are looking for here at this “must-see” pit stop in Los Angeles, California.
