A truly American experience!
Our Nation’s Capitol - the city that every American should experience! It is home to our Nation’s President, the congress that makes the decisions for our country and the Supreme Court that sets our laws into action. Washington, D.C. houses over 150 Embassies from around the world, 16 Smithsonian Institution Museums and countless monuments, memorials and government agencies.
Students can stand in the very spot Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream” speech. They can sit in the chamber of the Supreme Court where justices make rulings that will affect all Americans. They can gaze at the Declaration of Independence that chartered our nation and wonder whose handprint stained the bottom left corner. They can witness the Marine One Helicopter landing on the White House lawn to deliver the president. They can understand the cost of war by witnessing the thousands of identical headstones in perfect rows at Arlington Cemetery. Then they can see the pride and honor that guard those souls during the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. These are sites that no student should miss!
